So after spending weeks discussing backup strategies with HP, UltraBac, and Computer Associates (CA) we zeroed in on Computer Associates and their BrightStor products. So yesterday we began the task of installing demo product in our environment. Today, after running into problem after problem we called our sales rep and tech guy to discuss our issues. Bottom line – it's not going to work for us.
So our perfect solution, couldn't even handle the simple task of reporting. You know, it doesn't matter how many times you ask these guys or push them on their quick answers – it's always the perfect solution. So now that it won't work they want to up-sale me on another product – "it's designed to fit your environment" – hey, that's what the last guy said. Yeah, but this time they mean it – so now they want to charge me 5 times the price and oh – no demo software to test. You're just supposed to take their word for it.
