Mid-MO Grand Slam Tournament – 6th place finish

Updated 6/18/2006 3:30 pm
We got back home this afternoon around 1:00 pm – the Dawgs lost their 8:00 am game this morning sending the team packing. First time in long time where they didn’t have a decent showing in a tournament.

Everybody looked exhausted – and most only managed a few hours sleep last night. Tuesday the Dawgs will taken on Nightmare – 2005 State Champs. Thursday begins the State tournament in Joplin, Missouri. Then a final double header Tuesday the 27th closes out the Mud Dawgs season. Several of us have already been asking about a fall league, but secretly, I’m hoping for a few weeks off – shhhh! I’m not sure of the exact count, but it’s something like 50 games over the last 3 months.

I’ll try to get the pictures posted by Tuesday. Look for them in the Mud Dawg section of the gallery.

Well we managed to get home and to bed last night about 12:30 am. Turns out after losing to the St. Louis Falcons last night we’re 5th seed in the tornament, so we’re back at it this moring with an 8:00 am start. Sam’s doing pretty well for a kid who didn’t yet get enough sleep. Sure that’s true for the entire team – hopefully they can all pick up a few extra Z’s on their way to the ball park this moring.

Well the Dawgs pulled off their 2:00pm game this afternoon, winning 8-7 against the St. Louis Panthers; despite a hour rain delay. It was a pretty good game for both sides, but an amazing play in the bottom of the 7th 6th stopped the Panthers dead in their tracks. It’s worth a post of its own, so you’ll have to wait for later. Lets just say I’m one proud papa!

A 10:00 pm start time tonight for game 3 – and there’s more rain in the forecast.

06/17/2006 8:30 am Back to tournament play last night as the Mud Dawgs took on Wildwood Blaze. The Dawgs were playing well, scoring two in the first and winning 6-2. Jake did a great job pitching for us, while Jordan (2nd) and James (catcher) managed to catch two sleeping runners at 2nd. And just for grins the Dawgs threw in a double play that rivialed pro ballers; way to go Kyle, Jake, and Skyler – now that’s Mud Dawg Baseball!

Two games Saturday, 2:00 pm and 10:00 pm – it’ll be a long night.

Pictures from the game.
