USSSA Missouri State Tournament – 5th place finish

Updated 6/24/2006 11:30 pm
Well folks, the Dawgs did it – they won their 2:00 pm game against the 8th ranked Knights Baseball. For the first three innings the Dawgs were on the loosing end of the game until they started their rally in the 3rd. Both Matt and Skyler came through for us again; Matt sent two and Skyler sent one over the fence.

The 5:00 pm game against 5th ranked St. Joseph Thunder was a different story and I’m sad to report the Dawgs are headed home. It was a great game, but when it was over the scoreboard read 3 – 2. I think the Dawgs played great considering the Thunder got there riding two forfeited games in their pool play – meaning they were still pretty fresh and had most of their pitchers available. I don’t mean to take anything away from them, I’m just saying it’d sure been nice to see these teams more evenly matched this late in tournament play, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

All-in-all, I’m pretty proud of this team. They managed to place in the top 8 (don’t know the exact place right now) out of 40 or so teams from all over the state. Way to go Dawgs – keep your heads up!

Woohooooo … … The Dawgs are playing extremely well – most importantly, their playing like a team! I was trying to figure out who’s picture I should post tonight, who I could credit for coming through for the team, but honestly – that would be everybody! Skyler and Matt both had home runs tonight. Lots of smart base running, awesome pitching and just about everyone was hitting the ball!

I can’t begin to tell you how proud the parent are of these kids. Simply put, they’re playing their hearts out. The Dawgs closed out their pool play tonight 3 – 0 with huge run differentials. You couldn’t really ask for anything more.

Just got back from the game where the Dawgs took on the 17th ranked Neosho Reds. I’m happy to report the Dawgs showed up to play! And play well they did – shutting out the Reds 11 – 0.

Friday evening we take on the Columbia Titians and the Blue Deamons. Until then, good night.

Well, we’re here in Joplin, MO – lots of rain today has really delayed things. Our game tonight now starts at 10:00 pm against the Neosho Reds. Otherwise its been an uneventful day – lots of time spent in the hotel room and running through the halls.
