This July 4th weekend a few players from the Mud Dawgs and several from the Sharks teamed up to form the Mud Sharks and headed off to Boonville, MO to play in a Cal Ripken 12U tournament. Cal Ripken rules are quite different that the full-out baseball these two teams normally play at BC, but despite that and despite the fact these guys have never even practiced together, much less played together; they swept the tournament in five games beating the home town favorite. And what pretty much started as “Hey, you wanna play some baseball this weekend?” Has the coaches talking about going to the Show-Me games July 21-23. If so, you can count on me to post it here!
Mud Dawg baseball starts up again somewhere around mid-August where the Dawgs will move from AA to AAA due to placing in the top 8 at the state tournament a few weeks ago – also some talk about moving from 12U to 13U next spring. Sounds like a tough year ahead for the Dawgs where they’ll see lots of competition, further develop their skills, and grow as a team.
Mud Dawgs – Sharks, way to go guys – enjoy the victory!!!
