JCBI: Mother’s Day Tournament – 3rd Place

Folks, here are the highlights from the weekend tournament.  Huge thanks again goes to John Haynes for keeping the book and providing the details.  Here's his notes:

The JCBI 12U baseball team went 2-2 at the Twin Oaks Mothers Day Classic tournament over the weekend.

On Sunday JCBI lost a close game in winner’s bracket play to the Jefferson City Crusaders-1205 5-4 in extra innings.  For JCBI Jake Laughlin had 2 hits and 2 RBI with a run scored.  Alex Johnson and Joey Smith also had RBI’s with Dylan Brauner scoring 2 runs and Sam Atkinson adding a run.   Alex Johnson took the loss and Corey Beard pitched in relief. 

In pool play JCBI won over Columbia Starpath 4-2 and  the Phelps County Heat 16-6, and lost to the Jefferson City Crusaders-1204 8-0.

In the 4-2 win against Columbia Starpath, Dylan Brauner pitched a one hit complete game win allowing no earned runs.   Laughlin scored the game winning run on a wild pitch after hitting a two out double in the fifth.  Smith had a double and run scored.  Eric Standlee and Brauner each had an RBI, with Atkinson and Corey Beard scoring runs.

In the 16-6 win over the Phelps County Heat JCBI knocked out 16 hits with Smith going 3-3 with a single, double and triple, 3 RBI and a run scored.  Laughlin had 3 RBI and 2 runs, Atkinson had 3 hits with 3 runs scored and an RBI.  Johnson had 2 RBI with 3 runs scored.  Standlee and Dan Haynes each had 2 RBI and a run scored.  Beard and Brauner each had 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.   Colton Combs also scored for JCBI.  Corey Beard pitched the complete game for the win.

In the 8-0 loss to the Jefferson City Crusaders-1205 Sam Atkinson was 2-2 and Laughlin had a hit for JCBI and was the losing pitcher.

Friday night was a perfect evening for baseball as 12U AA JCBI gets the win over 12U AA Starpath, 4-2. Dylan owned the mound for 6 innings, giving up only 1 hit, with 8 strikeouts and 6 walks. No earned runs for Starpath this game.

Dylan, Jake and Erick each earned a RBI and Jake managed to steal home to boot. Other highlights, Jake, Dan, and Joey each had a double, while Alex Johnson, Corey and Dylan each managed a single.

In the end:
JCB: 4 runs, 8 hits, 3 errors
Starpath: 2 runs, 1 hit, 4 errors
