A good night for JCBI.
In game 1 JC took on 11U AA Hallsville Harleys winning 9-1. As you can tell from the score, it was all JCBI from the start. An easy victory over a younger, less experienced team, but the thing that impressed me most happened after the game. Eavesdropping a bit on the Harleys after the game, I heard extremely positive coaching. Nope, they didn't win and they made their share of mistakes, but as a team we're improving. The coach made no excuses, but focused on what the team did right. He pointed out situations his team successfully defended against, that just two weeks earlier didn't go so well. And by the end of his talk, he had the kids cheering their improvements. He had picked them up from the disappointment of loosing another game and had them looking forward to the next. I leaned over to Sheri and quietly whispered – what a pair of great coaches the Harleys had. I've seen and experienced lots of coaching over the years and in all honesty, I've never seen a coach put so much effort into picking up his team. It's an experience I wasn't apart of, but will never forget. Good job Harleys!
