The Dawgs found themselves in an unusual place this weekend – on the loser's side of a tournament. Friday was a late game (10:00 pm) against the Ballwin Wolverines where the Dawgs won 5-1. Unfortunately Sam had to play for JCBI in St. Louis Saturday so he missed out on a couple of ugly games Saturday. Things just weren't clicking for the boys and the fell to Herman Baseball, 9-1 and Redwings Baseball, 10-5 – dooming any hope of playing in the winners bracket.
Sunday Sam boogied back from St. Louis to rejoin the Dawgs to help the boys redeem themselves in the consolation bracket. First up was the Gators and a win for the Dawgs 6-3. Next was the Heat, another win 7-3, and a trip to the hospital for Sam after taking a one hop line drive at second into the head (he's OK). Finally it was the Jeffco Braves turn. Now folks, this was one of the best baseball games I can remember seeing, neither of these team looked like they belonged in the consolation bracket, yet here they were. It was a very physical game, hurt players, diving catches, unbelieveable plays, neither team was willing to roll over and a see-saw battle ensued. Unfortunately, in the end the Braves eked out the win over the Dawgs 13-11 in 7 innings.
I got a couple great shots of the Dawgs on Sunday, I'll get them posted shortly.
