JCBI: Grand Slam Tournament – 6th Place

With all the baseball/softball between Sam and Megan; games, pictures, video – I'd be lost without John's help in keeping this site updated with the teams stats.  Huge thanks John!

John Haynes:
JCBI 12U won 3 games and lost 1 in the Grand Slam tournament last weekend and lost a league game Monday evening.

In the tournament JCBI won all 3 pool games, defeating the Pond (St. Louis) All-Stars 9-4, the Chesterfield Chiefs 5-4, and the Southern Boone Bandits 13-9.  JCBI lost in winner’s bracket play 8-5 to the St. Charles Surge.   JCBI finished 6th in the 14 team tourney.

Against the Pond All-Stars starting pitcher Dylan Brauner picked up the win and Jake Laughlin got the save.  Dan Haynes had 3 RBI, Brauner picked up 2 RBI, Erick Standlee and Ross Shelton had 1 RBI each.  Brauner and Sam Atkinson had doubles for JCBI.

In the Chiefs game Corey Beard was the starter and picked up the win with Atkinson getting the save.  Brauner had 2 RBI, with Haynes and Standlee each adding an RBI.  Beard tripled and Joey Smith doubled for JCBI.

Against the Bandits, Haynes was the starter and Smith picked up the win in relief.  Alex Johnson had a 3 RBI triple, Brauner was 2-4 with 3 RBI, Laughlin was 2-3 with a triple and 2 RBI, Haynes was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Brenden Ogletree and Standlee each tripled and had 1 RBI and Beard also had an RBI.

On Sunday JCBI lost to the St. Charles Surge 8-5.  Brauner was the starter and got the loss, and Beard pitched in relief.  Laughlin and Smith knocked triples and had an RBI.  Johnson, Haynes and Standlee each had 1 RBI for JCBI.  Atkinson and Johnson had 2 hits. 

In a league game Monday evening JCBI lost to the Columbia Rockhounds 8-2.  Alex Johnson was the starter and got the loss, with Alex Cuneio pitching two innings in relief.  Atkinson had 1 RBI and Cuneio knocked out a double for JCBI.  Johnson and Standlee scored for JCBI.
