JCBI: Mid-Mo Wood Bat Extravaganza – 3rd Place

Updated 4/6/2008 8:30pm
Unfortunately for JCBI it was a short outing today, falling to the Kingdom Cowboys in 7 innings, 1-0.  A disappointing loss to be sure.  Dylan pitched an awesome game, the only run the Cowboys scored was on an overthrow to third that went into the outfield.  JCBI stranded 11 runners during the game –ouch!  What more can be said?  If it were up to me, I think I’d be taking a hard look at our batting line up –somethings not clicking.  And if you can’t score runs, you can’t win, it’s a pretty easy equation.  I’m betting there’s more batting practice in our future… anyone one wanna take that bet?

JCBI split two games this afternoon, beating Mexico Select 3-1, but falling to the Crusaders 4-3. And for the second weekend in a row, JCBI find itself seated second in this weekend’s tournament.

Tomorrow they again face the Mexico Select Kingdom Cowboys and will need to get through them once again to make it to the championship game. Fingers crossed.

JCBI kicked off a wood bat tournament Friday evening eking out a win over the Kingdom Cowboys, 3-2. Dan did an awesome job pitching, picking up quite a few strikeouts, but once again the bats just aren’t working yet. Hitting is so much a head game, I think the boys just need a lot more cage time with live pitching –we haven’t had much of it. I also think we could also use some base running practice. Baseball is an aggressive sport, you must score runs to win –an awesome defense, which we have is a good start, but it’s not enough to carry you through the season.

It’s a win nonetheless, and we’ll take it. Tomorrow the boys will need to be on top of their game as the take on Mexico Select and the Crusaders.
